(Seoul=NSP News Agency) Jiye Kim Journalist = Shinhan Bank, a major South Korean bank, strikes a deal with both LINE Pay, an operator of global messenger LINE and its Tokyo headquarter Line corporation, Ltd, in order to launch a combined service based on the two platforms of each company.

Through this step, Shinhan can offer various services to Japanese tourists using LINE Pay.

The first thing the contract enables Japanese consumers is to withdraw their yen deposited in LINE Pay from Shinhan Bank’s ATMs in Korea in Korean won.

“This service is expected to be widely used, as Japanese consumer prefers pre-paid cards and already accustomed to ATM services.” An official of Shinhan said, “Through the cooperation with LINE Pay, we will continue to expand fintech-related service and differentiate ourselves to any other Internet-based banks.”
