(Seoul=NSP News Agency) soon ki Lee Journalist = SK Telecom promotes the split-up into AI & Digital Infra Company(SKT surviving company) and ICT investment company(SKT new company).

The split-up is evaluated as a shareholder-friendly division method in the industry. The company name will be decided later.

The purpose of this split-up is to accelerate future growth and enhance shareholder value by fully evaluating semiconductor and New ICT assets in the market as well as telecommunications.

AI & Digital Infra Company(SKT surviving company) plans to expand AI and digital new businesses based on the 5G No. 1 leadership with SK Broadband as a subsidiary. Typical new businesses are cloud, data center, and subscription-type service.

The surviving company plans to contribute to the development of the ICT industry by generating future profits in 5G promising industry based on stable cash flow and continuously investing in the development of innovative technologies such as AI and digital infrastructure.

An ICT investment company(SKT new company) takes on the role of reinforcing its status as a semiconductor powerhouse by actively investing in domestic and overseas semiconductor-related companies. More active investment is expected than when SK Hynix invested in Kioxia(formerly Toshiba Memory) and acquired Intel’s NAND division in the past.
