(Seoul=NSP News Agency) soon ki Lee Journalist = Yeungnam University developed a base technology applicable to cancer treatment through convergence research in mechanical engineering and pharmacy.
This study was conducted through a joint research by Professor Byeon Jeong Hoon (39) of Mechanical Engineering Department, Professor Kim Jong Oh(43) of Pharmacy Department, and Professor Yong Cheol Soon (62).
The research team developed a new technology for drug manufacturing through the convergence research between disciplines last year and received great attention from academia. The paper published this time is the result of follow-up researches.
Yeungnam University research team implemented the nanorization(minimization to nanometer size) of black phosphorus through Aerosol Continuous Process(the continuous nanorization of black phosphorous through gas process) first in the world and succeeded in developing black phosphorous manufacturing technology which is optimized for cancer treatment.
Professor Byeon Jeong Hoon said “In this study, we proposed a platform capable of continuous production in a homogeneous form, replacing the existing complicated and deleterious nano-fabrication process,” and “We can enhance the efficiency of rectal cancer treatment by applying black phosphorus which is nanorized as a base material for nanomaterials for chemistry - thermal immunotherapy.”
Professor Kim Jong Oh said, “The technology developed through this research is expected to be used as a platform for manufacturing safe and effective nanomaterials for cancer treatment based on the phosphorus, which is one of the components of the human body,” and “We would like to contribute to the practical use of nano medicine by carrying out a follow-up study on aerosol-based variable nano medicine manufacturing that can design and apply human-friendly cancer treatment materials.”
