(Seoul=NSP News Agency) soon ki Lee Journalist = Pohang City signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) of KRW 20 billion with PMGROW, Korea’s only electric bus battery pack producer, and NewTech Livy, a maker of anode active materials for secondary battery anode materials.
At the ceremony, PMGROW agreed to invest 7 billion won by 2021 to build an EV battery pack production plant and a reuse & recycle R&D center on the 9900㎡ site in the Blue Valley Rental Industrial Complex.
In addition, NewTech Livy agreed to invest about 13 billion won by 2021 to establish a cathode active material production plant for secondary battery anode materials on the 4188㎡ site in Blue Valley National Industrial Complex.
In particular, if the EV battery pack production plant, which is to be established by PMGROW, goes into full operation, it will be possible to manufacture EV battery packs of 0.3GW (battery for 1,200 buses) class per year, and EV production belts are expected to gain momentum.
Lee Kang-deok, the Mayor of Pohang City, said, “We will not spare any administrative support necessary for the establishment of a production belt for battery companies in the Blue Valley Industrial Complex as well as the two companies.”
