The Samsung family has completed the payment of KRW 12 trillion in inheritance tax on the estate of the late Chairman Lee Kun-hee. The bereaved family, including Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jae-yong, Leeum Museum of Art Honorary Director Hong Ra-hee, Hotel Shilla President Lee Boo-jin, and Samsung C&T President Lee Seo-hyun, have paid inheritance tax in six installments through this year, starting with the first payment in 2021. The inheritance tax was calculated based on the estate, which includes stakes in affiliates such as Samsung Life Insurance, Samsung Electronics, and Samsung C&T, as well as real estate.
