SK Hynix, Completing Phase 1 Acquisition of Intel’s NAND Business Unit

SK Hynix completed the work necessary to acquire Intel’s assets on the same day after obtaining approval for an anti-trust review in China on the 22nd.
Through this, the assets that SK hynix will take over are the SSD(Solid State Drive, NAND flash memory-based data storage device) business and the Dalian fab in China. SK hynix will first pay $7 billion out of the total contract amount of $9 billion to Intel. SK hynix will pay the remaining $2 billion in a second payment around March 2025, and receive related tangible and intangible assets, including NAND flash wafer R&D and Dalian fab operating personnel. At this point, the acquisition contract will be finalized.

SK hynix has set the name of the new US subsidiary that will operate the Intel SSD business as ‘Solidigm’.
Solidigm, headquartered in San Jose, California, USA, takes over the SSD business operated by Intel and oversees product development, production and sales.
