(Seoul=NSP News Agency) eunyoung Huh Journalist = Store shelves full of rice produced in Yecheon county in the province of North Gyeongsang, South Korea, are capturing attentions of people across Los Angeles

The Yecheon rice has been flying off the shelves in H-MART that has 130 stores globally. The county exported a total of 200 tons of rice to the United States and Canada in June and August through Heechang Trading, a Korean trading company. This is a huge increase in the exports compared to 49 tons exported to the US and the UK last year.

And there’s more to come. In early October, 40 tons more Yecheon rice will be exported to Los Angeles, the United States. Additional 100 tons of newly harvested Yecheon rice will be exported to other regions including Los Angeles and Vancouver, Canada. An agricultural administrative manager in Yecheon County said, “The county has expanded the export markets to other countries like the US and Canada, going beyond Southeast Asia where Korea’s top export markets are concentrated. We will do our best to facilitate the distribution of our agricultural and regional products to continue the increase in the exports.”
