(Seoul=NSP NEWS AGENCY) = Samsung C&T's construction division (hereinafter referred to as Samsung C&T) plans to commence the production of "zero cement paving blocks," applying concrete technology that completely eliminates the use of high-carbon emitting cement.

In pursuit of mutual growth, Samsung C&T has been collaborating with Jangseong Industry, a concrete block specialized company located in Wonju, Gangwon Province, after signing a technological cooperation agreement and fully supported research and development costs for the development of zero cement paving blocks.

Having completed the performance verification of the product, Samsung C&T is set to start full-scale production from December. The plan is to introduce the zero cement paving blocks initially in Raemian apartment complex walkways from 2024, expanding its presence in the market. The zero cement paving blocks utilize an eco-friendly concrete technology developed in-house by Samsung C&T. Instead of high-carbon emitting cement, the company employs its patented special admixture and industrial by-products like blast furnace slag to maintain the conventional quality and strength while drastically reducing carbon emissions.
