(Seoul=NSP NEWS AGENCY) = Samsung Biologics announced on the 6th that it has become the first domestic Contract Development and Manufacturing Organization (CDMO) to join the Pharmaceutical Supply Chain Initiative (PSCI).

PSCI is a non-profit organization established in the United States in 2013 to promote sustainable supply chains in the biopharmaceutical industry. It currently includes 83 global biopharmaceutical companies such as Johnson & Johnson, Pfizer, Novartis, and AstraZeneca.

PSCI conducts a preliminary assessment of companies wishing to join, focusing on their ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management practices. This evaluation is based on PSCI's 'Principles for Responsible Supply Chain Management,' which cover five key areas: environment, labor and human rights, health and safety, ethics, and management systems. The assessment includes over 850 questions, and only companies that pass this evaluation are eligible to join PSCI.

John Rim, CEO of Samsung Biologics, stated, "By joining PSCI, Samsung Biologics aims to enhance its ESG management and strengthen its position as a leader in the global CDMO industry."
