(Seoul=NSP NEWS) = LS Cable & System has commercialized a power distribution cable that supports both alternating current (AC) and direct current (DC), marking its entry into the transitional power infrastructure market.
The new product uses high-heat-resistant polypropylene (PP) insulation, enabling stable operation even at 110°C. It is well-suited for high-power and high-temperature environments such as AI data centers, energy storage systems (ESS), and solar and wind power facilities. With its dual compatibility for AC and DC, the cable offers simplified design, improved installation efficiency, and potential cost savings.
The product has undergone joint demonstration testing with Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) and has been pilot-tested in semiconductor and petrochemical plants. PP is considered an eco-friendly material as it does not emit methane gas and is recyclable.
An LS Cable & System official stated, “As the transition of power grids accelerates domestically and globally, this product is expected to serve as a key infrastructure component that supports stable power supply across industries.”
