Samsung Bioepis, Directly Suppling Eylea Biosimilar, ‘OPUVIZ’ in Europe

(Seoul=NSP NEWS) = Samsung Bioepis has begun direct sales of the low-concentration formulation(40 mg/ml) of its ophthalmic disease treatment, OPUVIZ, in Europe.
Samsung Bioepis announced that it is targeting a global market worth approximately KRW 12 trillion in annual sales with OPUVIZ, a biosimilar of ‘Eylea’ developed by the U.S. company Regeneron.
With the commencement of this supply, Samsung Bioepis’s direct-sold ophthalmic biosimilars in Europe have increased to two, following the Lucentis biosimilar ‘BYOOVIZ,’ which began supply in January of this year. This expands the total number of Samsung Bioepis’ direct-sold products in Europe to five, following the rare disease treatment Soliris biosimilar ‘EPYSQLI’ in 2023.
The company stated that the commencement of this supply has expanded treatment options.
