(Seoul=NSP NEWS) = Samsung Electronics set a new record for the highest number of pre-sales for a Galaxy smartphone in history by recording 1.44 million units in domestic pre-sales for the ‘Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, Fold 8, and Flip 8’.

Samsung Electronics sold a total of 1.44 million units during the seven-day pre-sale period from the 28th of last month to the 3rd of this month. This figure surpasses the 1.38 million units recorded by the 2019 ‘Galaxy Note 10’ over 11 days.

Even by the standard of the Galaxy Z series, it significantly exceeded last year’s 1.04 million units of the ‘Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7’.

During the pre-sale period, the sales speed was recorded at approximately 140 units per minute. By product, the ‘Galaxy Z Fold 8’ accounted for about 70% of sales.

Samsung Electronics analyzed that the foldable technology, design competitiveness, and purchase rewards accumulated over seven generations drove initial demand.

The proportion of customers in their 10s, 20s, and 30s among pre-order customers on Samsung.com was found to be about half. The number of female customers in their 10s, 20s, and 30s who purchased the ‘Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra’ and ‘Fold 8’ more than doubled compared to the previous model, the ‘Galaxy Z Fold 7’.

Samsung Electronics explained that factors such as a large screen suitable for content immersion, multitasking, and enhanced portability led to demand from young customers.
