National Assembly, academia and industry say Hyundai E&C is going against ESG

Hyundai E&C explained that the violation cases were the highest due to a number of construction sites nationwide.
Dumping the waste nearby residential area is against business ethics and it could be a serious crime if it contains toxic waste, said the Korean Academy of ESG. Although Hyundai E&C revealed through Sustainability Report it has assigned and operated a waste management system for a legal waste treatment, the Korean Academy of ESG criticized that the illegal landfill and discharge of construction waste even when the system is available only go counter to business ethics - at the center of which should be eco-friendliness.

The illegal discharge of contaminated construction waste pollutes soil and groundwater, having a deadly impact to human, animals and growing crops, a researcher in the Graduate school of Environmental Finance at Yonsei University highlighted.
The National Assembly also pointed out that Hyundai E&C’s ESG mismanagement goes against environment-friendly management.
