(Seoul=NSP News Agency) soon ki Lee Journalist = LG Electronics recently unveiled FOSSLight(Free and Open Source Software Light), an open source software management tool that LG Electronics has developed and has been operating since 2014, to the public.
Since the source code of FOSSLight is open, any developer can download it from the website and use it freely.
FOSSLight analyzes the developer’s software and verifies whether open source is used and whether the open source license conditions or obligations are complied with. In addition, it helps to solve common issues when using open source, such as notifying developers of weak points in security.
LG Electronics expects that FOSSLight, which is released to the public, will be usefully used by various institutions and companies. In fact, Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute(ETRI) decided to use FOSSLight to establish an open source license management system.
Park Il-pyeong, LG Electronics CTO(Chief Technology Officer), said, “We will continue to contribute to the open source ecosystem and continuously strengthen our technological leadership.”
