(Seoul=NSP News Agency) soon ki Lee Journalist = The 14-nano-based LPDDR5X(Low Power Double Data Rate 5X)DRAM developed by Samsung Electronics in November last year completed performance verification on Qualcomm’s latest mobile platform and started to lead the next-generation low-power DRAM market.
Samsung Electronics installed the LPDDR5X DRAM 8GB package on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon mobile platform and verified the industry’s highest operating speed of 7.5 Gbps.
Samsung Electronics’ LPDDR5X DRAM is about 1.2 times faster than the previous-generation‘s LPDDR5, enabling improved ultra-high-resolution video shooting and artificial intelligence(AI) performance.
In addition, Samsung Electronics’ LPDDR5X DRAM reduced power consumption by about 20% compared to the existing LPDDR5 by implementing innovative circuit design and dynamic voltage and frequency switching(DVFS).
Samsung Electronics’ vice president of memory business said, “Based on the cooperation of Samsung Electronics’ latest LPDDR5X DRAM and Qualcomm’s mobile platform, we will expand applications in the low-power DRAM market such as metaverse, automotive, game/AR/VR, high-performance PC, and AI as well as mobile products.”
Ziad Asghar, vice president of product management at Qualcomm Technology, said “Qualcomm’s Snapdragon platform and Samsung Electronics’ LPDDR5X DRAM will improve AI engine performance and provide new features to take the user experience to the next level in games, cameras and other applications.”
