(Seoul=NSP News Agency) soon ki Lee Journalist = SK On succeeded in developing a battery monitoring integrated circuit(BMIC) that plays a key role in battery management.

BMIC performs a function of increasing battery stability and charging and discharging efficiency at the same time. For this purpose, voltage and temperature information of hundreds of battery cells mounted in an electric vehicle or an energy storage system(ESS) is identified.

It finds a battery cell that operates abnormally and helps the battery management system(BMS) control it. The price ratio of the total battery management system is about 30%, and it is a core semiconductor that is installed in more than 10 units per electric vehicle.

The battery monitoring integrated circuit jointly developed by SK On and Auto Silicon has acquired ASIL-D, the highest level of international certification related to automotive functional safety.

In particular, by applying a high-speed communication protocol, it has achieved technological innovation that transmits information up to two times faster than existing products while reducing parts in half.

The battery monitoring integrated circuit developed this time will be exclusively supplied to SK On for a certain period of time.
