(Seoul=NSP News Agency) soon ki Lee Journalist = Samsung Electronics has developed 24Gbps GDDR6(Graphics Double Data Rate) DRAM, which is the fastest in the industry.

Samsung Electronics’ 24Gbps GDDR6 DRAM is a 16Gb product based on the 3rd generation 10-nano class(1z) process using EUV(extreme ultraviolet) lithography equipment.

High-K Metal Gate(HKMG) technology was also applied to 24Gbps GDDR6 DRAM, which improved the operation speed by more than 30% compared to the existing 18Gbps GDDR6 DRAM.

In particular, Samsung Electronics developed GDDR6 DRAM in line with the standards of JEDEC, an international semiconductor standardization organization, and realized the industry's highest speed while ensuring compatibility so that AI/graphics accelerator companies could easily adopt it.

If 24Gbps GDDR6 DRAM is mounted on a premium graphics card, it can process data of up to 1.1TB per second. This is the speed that can process 275 Full HD movies in 1 second.

Samsung Electronics has also prepared a solution that provides 20% or more improved power efficiency to meet the diverse needs of customers by applying low-power dynamic voltage technology(DVS). In particular, it is expected that the battery life of laptop users will greatly increase as it supports the operating voltage up to 1.1V, which is lower than the existing 1.35V.
