(Seoul=NSP NEWS) = HD Hyundai started joint shipbuilding with Edison Chouest Offshore (ECO), its shipbuilding partner in the U.S.

Jung Kisun, the vice president of the company, stressed that "HD Hyundai is working to restore the U.S. shipbuilding industry" and that "the work will set a precedent for cooperation in shipbuilding between the two countries."

An ECO delegation, including 10 engineers, visited the company's digital control tower to take a look at how the ships built by HD Hyundai are actually operating and discussed methods to apply robot welding technology in the field.

The two companies signed an MOU for strategic partnership last June and pledged cooperation in building container ships by 2028.
